The Maile vine is very hearty and loves water. When your Maile Lei arrives, gently unpack it and either spray is with water or completely immerse it in water for 1 - 5 minutes. Remove it from the water and gently shake it dry. It should not be completely dry. Then place it in a plastic bag or container and place it in the refrigerator (NOT the freezer). Leave it in the refrigerator until just before it is needed. Once it is placed on the recipient (along with the requisite congratulations and kiss) it will last up to 24 hours.
